Tradition

"A Winning Tradition"

Madison Academy has a rich tradition in baseball. The Mustangs have seen themselves in the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) state playoffs each year since 1996 and captured the school's 1st AHSAA Class-3A State Championship in 2009. Over the last nine years the Mustangs have compiled a play-off "won-loss" record of 24-16 in Class 3A. From their first state finals appearance in 1996 the program has an overall won-loss record of 351-172 (.671% win percentage) which includes 11 Area Championships.

Jeff Stinnett Award

At the conclusion of the 2003 season the Madison Academy Baseball Program established an award to recognize a Mustang baseball player who best exemplifies the character traits we want our student athletes to model on the field, in the classroom, and in our community. The Jeff Stinnett Award is so named because of the example the award's namesake left us, and the fact we are reminded daily of these character traits as a result of playing at the Jeff Stinnett Athletic Complex. The award goes to the Madison Academy baseball player who best displays a love, passion and respect for the game of baseball. He demonstrates a burning desire and work ethic to continuously improve as a player. He puts "team" before personal goals and accepts his role, and does not question a coach's prerogative to use him in any capacity that gives his teammates the best chance to win. He knows the mark of a true champion is "attitude" and that attitude makes a difference. He displays good character in victory and in defeat, and has a deep respect for God, his family, and his teammates.
