This year’s Menlo-Atherton Little League Hit-a-thon event and the Major’s Home Run Derby will be held on Sunday, May 7th at Burgess Park. It is our league’s main fundraiser and a key opportunity for each of our M-ALL players to feel responsible for supporting their fellow teammates, our league and the greater community. While the Hit-a-thon event will be a month from now, the fundraising STARTS NOW!

Contributions can be made here: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/mallhat2023

M-A’s Hit-a-thon fundraising represents over 55% of our league’s budget. Registration fees cover only 40% of the operational costs including uniforms and field rentals. Donations during registration makeup the remaining 5%. It’s important to note that the Hit-a-thon enables us to keep our registration fees low and provide scholarships for all families to participate.

It is imperative that our league raises significant funds each year, separately from registration fees, to keep our league afloat. Truthfully, without it, we wouldn’t have a Little League close to this caliber.

The M-A Hit-a-thon helps pay for:

  • ●       Field maintenance
    ●       Umpires
    ●       Player & coach development (i.e. batting time, trainings, etc.)
    ●       Safety Measures, including a defibrator purchased with last year’s HAT funds
    ●       Operations & Insurance
    ●       Scholarships
    ●       Special events

This year, our target is to raise $125,000.  In addition to helping with other initiatives and projects planned for by M-ALL, this target is specifically intended to help enhance our player development program and provide the option to fund the construction of our own batting cages like those seen at the Alpine Little League’s Ford Field complex and at other Little League fields around the Peninsula.

Here’s the deal: Friday, April 7th, you will receive an email directly from our 99Pledges platform with detailed instructions for your player(s) and team to solicit donations from family, friends and the community. This online platform provides an easy way to reach out through email, Facebook, Instagram (don’t forget to link their fundraising site) and soon to be provided QR codes available to go door to door to neighbors. Players have had success with calling/ emailing family, knocking on neighbor’s doors and even writing up a note for a parent to post on social media!

On May 7th, each player will get the opportunity to hit 10 pitches … FAR … to raise money for the league and earn prizes based on individual and team fundraising levels! In addition, Majors level players will be competing in Home Run Derby, Golden Arm and Base Running competitions. We acknowledge a per foot donation makes sense given this is an “a-thon”, but that notwithstanding, flat donations are preferred to enable better tracking of progress toward our goal and simplify the event logistics.

Our primary goal is 100% participation from each team, which means each player receives at least one donation. The goal is for each player to raise at least $250 but every dollar counts so encourage them to get as many as they can. There will be prizes both for quantity of donations and top fundraising. A high level of participation will almost certainly lead to achieving our fundraising goal.

We are also still seeking larger individual corporate sponsors for direct contributions and sponsorship of the Home Run Derby and day of events. Please reach out to Ricky Flores, Sponsorship Lead, ricky@margotandricky.com, with any possible leads.

Please reach out to Mike Rosenthal, our Hit-a-thon Director, with any questions, ideas or if you just need some encouragement!
